My Fees

Free Initial Consultations By Email

Let’s be honest, you do not want to spend your time calling a law firm to schedule an appointment to meet with an attorney only to have the attorney tell you that you cannot afford the legal services that you need.

Most law firms advertise a free initial consultation. The purpose of the free initial consultation is to get you into their office so they can decide how much they can charge you for the work you need.

Most people cannot afford to have an attorney on retainer that drops everything to take their phone call and provide them with answers to their questions.

Here is what I can do for you through eLawPros.com. You can send me your questions by email. I will respond to your email within three business days, sooner if I can. I will give my best response based on the information that you provide to me without doing any research, essentially my “gut” response to your questions (I have been doing this for more than 30 years).

Let’s be real, you cannot get sound reliable legal advice unless you pay for it. Here you can get an initial response without taking time off from work and sitting around a stuffy office. ELawPros.com also lets you see what services I provide and what they cost. No wasting your time sitting in a big office only to find out that you cannot afford to hire that attorney.

Now here is the legal part. I will provide you with a free initial email consultation under the following Terms, Conditions and Limitations. When you send me an email, you are agreeing to:

Terms, Conditions and Limitations: The advice and information provided by me in response to your email is not intended to be used by you to make important legal decisions that may affect your rights. The advice and information is educational only and you agree that it will only be used to determine when and what type of additional legal services your situation may require. You agree that you are asking for and receiving my initial opinion and that you do not expect me to do any research to respond to your question. My response is limited to the facts as you have presented them. You do not expect me to make any independent investigation to determine whether other facts exist that could affect the answer that I have provided.

By allowing you to send me an email requesting a free email consultation, I am not agreeing to provide you with any advice or legal services other than my initial opinion and response to your question. I am not agreeing to take any action to investigate your situation. I am not agreeing to appear for you in Court or at any other type of legal proceeding. I am not agreeing to take any action to prevent a statute of limitations or other deadline from expiring. I am not agreeing to take any type of action to protect any legal right or interest you may have.

Two more things: DO NOT SEND EMAIL QUESTIONS CONCERNING PENDING CRIMINAL CHARGES OR ACTIVITY THAT MAY RESULT IN CRIMINAL CHARGES. What you email may be used against you. Never discuss criminal charges by email. Never post comments or questions on websites discussing the facts related to pending or potential criminal charges. DO NOT SEND EMAIL QUESTIONS CONCERNING IMMINENT COURT DATES, RESPONSES TO A SUMMONS OR SUBPOENA THAT HAS BEEN SERVED ON YOU, OR STATUTES OF LIMITATIONS THAT ARE ABOUT TO EXPIRE. Time sensitive issues require scheduling an appointment with an attorney as soon as possible. The law often imposes strict deadlines. Failure to take appropriate action before the deadline may result in severe consequences.

Choose The Legal Services You Need

I have carefully considered the legal services you need.  I have analyzed these services to determine the lowest fee I can charge. You decide what service you need knowing exactly how much it will cost.

View a list of PRACTICE AREAS and specific legal services available through eLawPros.com. Select the practice area that you are interested in.

Of course if purchasing legal services on the web is not your cup of tea, please call me and we can schedule an appointment for you to meet with me at my Fargo office. You can also access my calendar and schedule an appointment to meet with me.  In addition to appointments at my office, we can schedule web-video conference appointments, telephone appointments or I will come to your house to meet with you. Yes, I do make house calls at no additional charge.

Please note I do charge a small fee for initial appointments. [Basic Consultation: $45.00] This fee is similar to the co-pay fee you pay when you see your doctor. By charging this small fee for initial consultations I am able to keep my legal service fees as low as possible. Free initial consultations are available by email.

How Much Will It Cost?

I use transparent flat fee pricing for most of the legal services that I provide.

A flat fee means that the attorney’s fee you pay for each service is set before we begin.  No surprises. The fee covers the full legal service as it is described.

Flat fees do not work in all situations.  In some complex cases, I may have to charge an hourly fee. Before accepting your case on an hourly fee, we will discuss the fees and an estimate of the total fees.

If you have suffered a serious injury I may accept your case on a contingent fee basis where you pay a percentage of what is recovered.  If there is no recovery you do not owe any attorney’s fees.
