I grew up in the small west central Minnesota area of Herman-Norcross. In grade school there were 5 people in my class. The Norcross grade school only had three classrooms for grades 1 through 7. In high school I played football, wrestled and ran track. I was in the school band, on student counsel, wrote for the school paper, the Panther Pause, was in school plays and a member of the National Honor Society. In the summer my best friend and I worked for area farmers baling hay and cleaning barns. I also did the traditional kid’s jobs: delivering newspapers and mowing lawns.

When I was growing up “multi-tasking” was not a word, but high school taught me how to manage my time and get everything that needed doing done.

My parents taught me to work hard and treat everyone with respect.

I attended Jamestown College and had the privilege of being coached by Rollie Greeno. Coach Greeno taught that hard work and no excuses created champions. Later I transferred to Moorhead State University where I obtained a Mass Communications degree and was taught how to write by Melba Moline.

I attended law school at Brigham Young University where I was fortunate to be trained in the law by great attorneys like Rex Lee, Carl Hawkins, Woody Deem and Judge Monroe McKay.

In 1983 I returned to Fargo and have been practicing law in North Dakota for more than 30 years. The main focus of my law practice has always been helping individuals obtain justice.

I have been married to my wife Betsy since 1977. She has been my partner in getting through law school and has provided me with the love and support I have needed to spend more than 30 years fighting for the rights of my clients. She continues to support me and provide guidance as I work to develop eLawPros.com.

We have three grown children. I was very involved in the soccer. I coached my children’s teams in F-M Soccer and was on the F-M Soccer Board of Directors. I also coached JV soccer at South High and for Red River Soccer. In addition to coaching I also was a soccer referee. I had the privilege of being a referee for both the North Dakota boys and girls State Soccer Tournaments and also for Minnesota regional tournament matches. Now I spend my free time golfing or traveling and attending concerts with Betsy.
